Incredible Edible Rossendale

Our 2020 vision for a healthIER wealthIER Rossendale

Christine Walkden - IER Patron

"I am happy and very keen to support the project as I believe there is nothing better than growing your own, being outside getting lots of exercise and being involved in a community.  This scheme involves all these elements, and I wish everyone involved all the very best and great success."

A Message from Graham Jones MP

“The Incredible Edible Rossendale project is a great local initiative for achieving self sufficiency in the local community.

Self sufficiency is a great attribute and to have it at a local level will open up a vast array of opportunity in the community and amongst other things will be a welcome boost to our local economy.

The project aims at getting the community involved in working together to grow its own produce but also works to raise awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. I welcome the project which will do a great deal in supporting our local trade with good quality healthy food not only being produced in the community but staying in the community.

The Incredible Edible Rossendale project website has lots of ways in which you can get involved. It boasts a forum where local people can come together and share ideas along with listings of upcoming events in the local community.

Let’s get planting!”

Our Mission Statement

Incredible Edible Rossendale have a 2020 vision for self sufficiency in the towns of the Rossendale Valley.

We aim to encourage residents to grow their own produce either on their own land, or, on community land tended by IER volunteers.

We aim to educate everyone on the benefits of eating fresh food, and, introduce them to foods previously alien to them.

We aim to offer locally produced foods through our shops thereby increasing business potential, and, supporting local trade.

Incredible Edible At Work!

Incredible Edible Rossendale, would like to invite you to participate in Incredible Edible at Work.

The idea is very, very simple. Workplaces in the Valley simply grow something(s) edible on any of their land – a fruit tree, berries, salads crops, the list is endless. There is no excuse for not growing anything – if you don’t have any land, you certainly have windowsills where you can grow lettuce, rocket, or herbs. You can grow tomatoes or strawberries in hanging baskets.

Your staff can look after the produce, and, they will be eating healthy fresh food, not only contributing to their own wellbeing, but, you as a Company will be adding your voice to the Incredible Edible ‘movement’.

There are already well over 100 Incredible Edible organizations, many are from Transition Towns, creating their own bid for self-sufficiency, educating health awareness and supporting their local businesses/economy.

By taking part, we will blog your participation on our website, add your Company logo (with a link to your website) in the ‘Our Friends’ section, and, will add your Company to the map of Incredible Edible locations in the Valley.

There is no reason for anybody to not take part. Let’s really put Rossendale on the Tourist map and show everyone what a great Community we are.  It’s free, there is no catch – everybody wins!
