Irwell valley

Posted on April 12, 2012 at 19:45 0 Comments

When I was a youngster we lived by the Medlock - in Clayton, Manchester. It was officially the dirtiest river in Europe, pig effluent, coal effluent and run off from factories made it very polluted. I fell in once and was covered in spots!

We went for a walk down the Irwell yesterday. Saw a dipper, lots of great growing land, and unfortunately some rubbish. But it was a joy to have a cleanish river near us.

Love it here in Rossendale.
