Plants needed for Whitaker Park
Now that the beds are ready, and, the sun is here, there's no excuse for us not to get up along to Whitaker Park and turn the patch into Rossendale's first edible Community Garden and Medicinal Herb Garden.
If you have any surplus edible plants, please, please, please bring them along ANYTIME and plant them! If you want us to collect them from you then just get in touch.
If you were given seeds at the AGM to grow for us, then again, please bring them…

Fantastic turnout of 14 volunteers, despite the rain yesterday to plant the bedding plants donated by Civic Pride in Edgeside Park. ESDRA's park project is really coming along with the wildflower beds looking beautiful, fingers crossed for improved play area soon and more volunteers interested in getting some edible plants started to supplement the fruit trees.
Later, after yet another workshop at Horse and Bamboo getting ready for today, I met our latest IER volunteer Vicki at…

Beginner Balcony Gardeners – Growing gets going.
Hi, again even though the weather hasn’t been too good and rain turns the balcony into a bit of a slippery paddling pool, I’ve been busy moving red onions, dwarf French beans and peas out on to the balcony from their kitchen window nursery. I have added more photos to my album, none of a newly constructed corner planter as yet, but hopefully I can add that next week!…

A HUGE thank you to The Tesco Sponsorship Fund for awarding our project with the sum of £300.
The money will go a long way to helping us fund the great work we have been doing at Whitaker Park.
We hope to have the money 'officially' presented to our Patron, Christine Walkden, on Wednesday 20 July at the opening of our first Community Garden.

Incredible Fish & Chips!
Incredible Edible Rossendale has been given a very unique opportunity to appear in a very special newspaper!
Our friends Kaspar Wimberley and Susanne Kudielka (also known as Treacle Theatre), working with Creativity Works, will dedicate the ‘paper’ to IERoss and it will be used to wrap Fish & Chips for a limited period!
If anyone would like to contribute it’s fairly simple - just send us material that respond to any of the following questions:…

Whitaker Park - Taking Shape
With the help of soil and mulch donated by the Rossendale Borough Council, and, more hard work from our volunteers, our Community Garden at Whitaker Park is really taking shape.
Yesterday, we were able to plant in the area with edibles - notably the bumper supply given to us by member, Janet O'Driscoll.
It isn't long now until the big day! Why not come along next Wednesday and help us?

Beginner Balcony Gardeners - 2011 part 1
2011
Well at the end of 2010 we decided to extend our garden efforts to downstairs near our front doors to put my potted Christmas tree and my lovely June berry (Amelanchier lamarkii) tree, which does have edible berries although I haven’t tried them yet. Joanna's Garden Blog - Patience
About time i got round to my second blog post. On the most part gardening weather not been too great in May, so am probably a bit behind, but it's certainly cheering up in June and have been in the garden all day. The main thing i am finding at the moment is impatience. I want to shout at the veg - grow grow grow! Now! Eager beaver that i am. I think it is becasue we had such an early and summerlike spring in April, it felt more like May, so it feels like everything is taking forever to…
