We Need YOU!
Following our Level 4 award at North West In Bloom last year, we have again been invited to take part in the RHS Its Your Neighbourhood category for 2012.
This Sunday, 13 May, at around 10am, we will be continuing our work at Whitaker Park and, we need your help to try and achieve a Level 5 award this year.
If you have any edible plants you can spare - vegetables, fruit or herbs - please bring them along and plant.

Saplings!
Another beautiful day!! I'm just off to collect 100 edible saplings from Stubbylee in Bacup, given to IER by The Woodland Trust . We'll be planting them in Helmshore tomorrow with a group of pupils from Helmshore County Primary School.
Right now, daffodils are flowering opposite Sunnybank Social Club that were planted by some of the school's pupils a good 10-15 years ago and looking beautiful in this sunshine - definitely not edible, but beautiful!

Royal Record Book
Friends of IER might like to take a look at this book, 'The Royal Record of Tree Planting'.
It is a record of all the trees planted to celebrate the coronation of King George VI in 1937. Take a look at page 116 and work your way through 'Lancashire' and you will see lots of tree plantings in familiar places : 14 Sycamores in Stubbylee Park, Bacup; 6 Sycamore in Victoria Park, Haslingden; 6 white Horse-Chestnut on the recreation ground in Chatterton, and 36 white Horse-Chestnut on…
