Our 2020 vision for a healthIER wealthIER Rossendale
As you are all aware we received 420 saplings from The Woodland Trust earlier this month.
We had originally intended to plant these en masse, but, have decided to temporarily postpone the plans. Instead, we are to heel-in the saplings at Stubbylee Greenhouses and plant in the Spring giving us stronger plants.
In the meantime, we have agreed that anyone wishing to take a few saplings to plant in a location within a Community space within the Valley is more than welcome to do so. The only criteria being that a) you have permission to plant at the location, and, b) that you will ensure the saplings are looked after. When growing, the trees should also be in a place that members of the public are free to pick from.
The saplings available are from the Woodland Trust ‘Wild Harvest – Chutneys and Cordials’ pack, and, contains Hazel, Blackthorn, Crab Apple, Elder, Dog Rose and Cherry Plum.
We will put your planting on the map of Incredible Edible locations on the website – this is a great opportunity to have multiple plantings and really raise our ever growing profile throughout the Valley.
Please contact us if you would like to take some saplings.
