Our 2020 vision for a healthIER wealthIER Rossendale
Hi again, time for an update I thought especially as we have been busy as everything is growing like mad at the moment and I’ve been sowing more seeds. As usual I’ve added more photos to my album and I found a few more from 2009/10 and I noticed a few extreme winter casualties that are no longer with us, a flame tree, eucalyptus and dwarf parlour palm. Our back wall is now where the bench, table and chairs are but we are hoping to put a couple of succulent pictures on the wall. I also helped some of the young people to secure grant funding to give all 50 flats on Hareholme estate a free hanging basket complete with plants,(from Stubbylee Community Greenhouses) Everyone loved their baskets it’s just a shame that although Greenvale Homes had agreed to provide and fit brackets it took them a few months!!!!!
Our little gem lettuce are nearly all gone now so I’ve sown the lollo rosso and also added spring onion to go with our red onions, baby beetroot and carrots. Our black peas have started to flower, lovely lilac and burgundy blooms and some pea pods have appeared and our peas have begun to flower too. The dwarf French beans are rapidly growing up their supports so hopefully we should get some good crops although peas don’t often make it to the pan!! I’ve got nasturtium growing from seed to fill baskets and our hay racks and wildflowers from our initial years seeds are sprouting everywhere with plenty to throw off the balcony on to raised beds below and give to other neighbours.
