Our 2020 vision for a healthIER wealthIER Rossendale
Just harvested my first spuds of the year, variety Sharpe's Express, 3 tubers planted in a large tub in the greenhouse in early march, harvested 9th July 2012, weight 1.2Kg. This is the second year I’ve grown this variety, they've got a good taste, though do break up on boiling, steaming may be better. Cucumbers are also starting to fruit, first ones harvested this week, toms doing well as are peppers. A very slow start this year, everything seemed to take off in June, after weeks of slow growth.
Everything in the garden is taking its time, due to the poor weather. The late frost ruined plum crop, so no jam or chutney this year, unless I can find another source. Radish not doing at all well, other sowings just didn't appear, particularly Salsify, which I’m trying for the first time.
